Photoshoot Posing: Tips for Non-Models

A photo session is one of the greatest experiences for every woman which can help you to feel confident, discover your possibilities and get rid of self-doubt. But every non-professional model usually wonders: how to pose fabulous and natural like celebrities?

In today’s article, we will share with you some easy photography tips. No matter what do you want to arrange: a perfect Santorini wedding, love story or just beautiful sunset photoshoot, using our guide you’ll look perfect in every single picture.

  • Turn the shoulders

Posing directly into camera can make your body look much wider than it actually is.  Always try to at least slightly turn your head and shoulders to the side. Also, a great idea would be to put one hand on your waist and the other free.

  • Pull your chin forward

The golden rule of all professional models — never looks down during photoshoot. Instead, bring your chin a little bit forward, but don’t overdo it. If you can’t understand whether you’re doing it right or not, just ask the photographer.

  • Control your hands

If you are new and don’t know where to place your hands right, just watch what your favourite models do. Use your pockets or other items of clothing, so that, touching them, create a very natural movement. Never throw your lifeless hands along the body. Instead, try to set aside your elbows to take more space and create a spectacular line between the body and hands.

  • Use your clothes

If you have taken into account our tips about suitable clothes from photoshoot preparation checklist, you won’t have a problem with that. The best choice would be a flying dress if you decided to arrange a trip to Santorini, Greece: play with it, toss the skirt in the air or just keep one corner of it in your hand. The dress will do all the job for you.

  • Control your hair

The common mistake of all non-models: they don’t consider their hair as a part of the body they have to control. It’s not right. We recommend you find the perfect hair position before the photo session. Stand in front of the mirror, try different options and find the most suitable one for you. A great idea would be to have a hairstylist or assistant that will help you during the process.

  • Be yourself

There is nothing more natural than being yourself. A sense of humour, a sincere smile or a jump which makes your hair soar beautifully — no special tips or techniques are needed.

Forget the stereotype that only professional models always look gorgeous on the photos. Work with your posture, gestures, facial expressions and confidence and you will be impressed with your photoshoot results.
